Description:
This sleepy little town hides a glorious past. Its famous Byzantine mosaics are reputed to be the best outside of Istanbul and are a legacy of its heyday as the capital of the Western Roman Empire in the 6th to 8th century. Ravenna city is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Its port, Porto Corsini, lies about 80nm south of Venice and 40nm NW of Rimini.
