This is Sicily's regional capital, and is a busy port situated on the north-western coast of the island.
The yacht harbour (Cala), south of the commercial harbour, is reported as oily and may have a problem with rats coming onboard. Security of both people and boats can also be rather doubtful and extra care is advised. There are six different organisations providing moorings here on floating pontoons. Acquasanta is a modern yacht harbour for visitors, just north of the two commercial harbour entrances. On the northern edge of the city is the small port of Arenella, the old part of which is used by fishing boats.
