Benoa : Profile
Position 8°45’S 115°15’E.
The pass through the reef leading into Benoa Harbour should not be
negotiated at night as the lights can be confusing. Yachts should proceed through the buoyed channel into Bali Marina, which is located in the NE part of the harbour. The marina monitors Channel 77 during office hours (0800-2000). Yachts at anchor close to the north of the marina may use the marina to land from the dinghy and will pay a weekly fee for the service.
Any yachts docked in the marina must use the marina office as a clearance agent and as of May 2009 are charged $200 per clearance. Note that this fee has gone up considerably and may well change again.
For those who will do their own clearance (to avoid the high costs), all offices are south of the marina, and the harbour master’s office must be visited first. An inward/arrival report must be filled in and 5 copies taken to various offices to be stamped: navy, immigration, quarantine and customs, before returning to the harbour master. To clear out, the harbour master’s office is visited first to complete a departure form, and the 5 forms need then be signed and stamped at: navy, immigration, customs and quarantine offices, before final clearance is granted from the harbour master’s office.
As of May 2009, Bali Customs office has without warning, started to impose temporary import charges for foreign yachts. Bali International Marina can offer alternatives.
The long established Bali Yacht Services offer a range of services to
visiting yachts and can be contacted on VHF Channel 11.

As an alternative to the marina in Benoa Harbour, there is a good anchorage in the bay opposite the village of Serangan. It is well protected from the NW monsoon, but more open to the SE. Drinking water is available from the shops in the village and there is a supermarket not too far away as well as fuel. This is a friendly place. Ask for Neuman or Leila if you need help.
Bali International Marina Pelabuhan Benoa, , Denpasar, Bali 8D222 Tel:+62 361 723 601, Fax:+62 361 723 604 info@balimarina.com The marina offers all usual services, fuel, water, internet access, laundry and with 24 hour security is a safe place to leave the boat if touring the interior. Contact marina manager Haryo Sugito. The marina also has a fuel dock, bar, restaurant and showers. Docking fees are to be paid in advance. There are discounts for longer stays. Water and electricity are charged separately.
(May 2009). The marina can organise a CAIT and can help yachts with the temporary import fee by being a guarantor. They need to know the value of the boat and cruising route, itinerary in Indonesia and other details before they can process it and quote the fee.
