 Valencia - Shore Services

Provisions

The nearest supermarket is 2km from the port at Nazaret. Other supplies are in the city, which requires transport, as it is 7km away.

Don't miss the wonderful Central Market in the city centre. Recently overhauled it is a fabulous old building with impressive stalls selling everything imaginable. The tapas stands outside should be sampled.

Carrefour

Attractions

Valencia is famous for its Fallas Festival, held each year in March. On the last night of Fallas, the Nit de Foc, there is a most impressive fireworks display, and on the 17th and 18th of March, there are beautiful processions following two paths that take flowers to the Plaza of the Virgin. At the end of the festival, the fallas are burned.

The old town has been restored and has many interesting buildings.

Valencia's aquarium is the most famous in the Mediterranean.

The following blog report by a travelling family (http://www.anepiceducation.com/) who spent 9 months in Valencia, pretty much sums up all the best spots to visit and also lists alot of places for kids.
Our Top 23 Things to do in Valencia - April 2016

Restaurants & Bars

There is no shortage of all types of bars, cafes and restaurants in the city.

It is also known for creating the paella.

Nice and clean Marina, lot of services, shops, shipchandler. We came in with a very strong gale, only one marinero to take the line, who decided to tie it on the leeside, litteraly throwing us to another boat. Wifi unavailable, for help the answer was "just sort it out by yourself".
But very cheap.

The marina here has to be one to visit, well protected, clean showers, and cheap in comparison to most marinas I have come across so far this year. The berths are extremely generous. As you pull into the harbour, the fuel pontoon is on your right. Tie up and register at the office and a berth will be allocated. The price include electric and water and was only €13.92 per night in June 2015.

Valencia itself is a great place with something for everyone. If you have bikes on board, Valencia is ideal with designated cycle tracks all round town. There are three routes you can follow to see the city and right through the centre runs a park with a cycle track from end to end, I would say it is at least 10km long.

It should be noted that Marina Real Carlos 1 is one of the most affordable marinas along the Spanish Mediterrenean coast. Last summer we paid (LOA 13.9 M) around 24 euro a night including power, water, wifi and VAT, longer contract subject to discounts. The washroom and shower facilities were in need of upgrading and the work had started when we left in August. This marina is huge and offers good protections from all wind directions.
We have visited this marina a few times, and like it very, very much. It is true that it is quite a walk to the town and grocery stores, but the marina is very good. The beach is close and likewise restaurants, public transporation is also within easy walking distance, the airport is reached by inexpensive public transportation. It is true that bikes would make getting around much easier and Valencia is a super bike friendly city, a number of bike rental shops are within walking distance.

Marina Real Juan Carlos I
Monitor VHF channel 67

This is a modern and expansive marina, and a component of the mighty infrastructure needed to host two America's Cup Races, in 2007 and 2010. The huge adjacent beach is sandy with 300 meters of depth from the water's edge to the busy beachfront promenade. There are bike trails, playgrounds, a carousel, and the America's Cup Museum to keep you entertained. This would be an attractive wintering spot for Mediterranean sailors.

The marina has all of the modern conveniences; sturdy docks, a small laundry room, and is within easy walking distance to the plethora of beachfront restaurants. It is also a short walk, 500 meters or so, to the metro train that gives you easy and inexpensive access to the old city. For cruisers there is surprisingly no market within easy walking distance, but the Carrefour supermarket is a short taxi ride away, and the amazing 8,000 square meter Central market in the old town should be visited if possible.

This is a highly recommended marina and cruisers benefit the current oversupply of berths. The price for our 13 meter sailboat was 24€ per night, including water and electricity.
