Docking

This is a thriving community with a busy fishing port, an active artistic colony and a very pretty, colourful town.

Kirkcudbright offers the best sheltered harbour in the Dee estuary. It lies on the north shore of the Solway firth and access is above half tide. Take care to follow the correct channel and beware of the strong tides in the river (3 to 4kn at springs).

Also, take note of the firing range at the entrance and call the Range Safety Officer before passing through.
