Kassandra Peninsula : Profile

Location

A long, narrow peninsula on the eastern side of the Gulf of Thermai. It is connected to the mainland by a sliver of land just 1/2 mile wide. This is bisected by a waterway, the Portas Canal.

Docking

There is a new marina and a fishing port on the western side of the peninsula and several anchorages on the eastern coast.

Nea Skioni
A fishing harbour on the SW coast of the peninsula. Reasonable shelter. Moor where possible, maybe alongside a fishing boat.
Water on the quay and fuel in the town, also provisions.

Portas Canal
The canal is 1/2 mile long and is spanned by a bridge with 16m clearance. It is dredged to 2.5m but beware of silting along the sides and at the western end.

Good shelter. A new marina, part of a resort. Entrance channel dredged to 3m. All facilities, laundry, fuel berth, mini-market, bars and restaurants, ATM, taxis.
