Explore: Exuma
General Info
The 100-mile chain consists of small islands, some inhabited, some privately owned, with the deep Exuma Sound to the east, offering excellent diving and fishing and with the shallow banks to the west.
The Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park is 8 miles wide and 23 miles long, between Wax Cay Cut in the north and Conch Cut in the south; it is a marine fisheries reserve, in which area nothing may be taken, alive or dead, from land or sea. The area is patrolled and the penalties for infringements, are severe. See news report for information.
Exuma Park has established mooring fields at Shroud Cay, Hawksbill Cay, Warderwick Wells and Cambridge Cay. For details on moorings and fees see Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park report for more information.
In season (December to June) the numbers of cruising sailors here are astonishing. Crowded anchorages and crowded marinas.
Clearance must be carried out at George Town.
