    Mayreau – Saline Bay

Anchored off the Beach at the south end. Good holding and calm night. A lovely tree-lined beach, which was very quiet. The steep walk up the café lined colourful village street to the church was well worth the climb- a fabulous view of Tobago Cays. The small village store was open but unable to buy beer! We had a lovely home cooked lunch in Combination Café – don’t be in a rush, just enjoy island time and a great view.

    Saline Bay

Guided to a good anchor spot by a boat boy. Had very little cash so gave them a beer. The spot was very near the beach and the dinghy dock.

We had lobster and tuna bbq organised by Papa San and Jomo ( his sidekick). The food wasn’t great ( a small piece of tuna Eichner had lots of bones in it. We both felt a bit off the next day. We negotiated a price of $90 for lobster and $60 for fish. It wasn’t worth that price.

The first night was rolly but it stopped after that. Stayed 3 nights as didn’t have any cash left and there is no ATM on the island. The small supermarket does have a card machine but it wasn’t working when we went.

No rubbish bins so take it with you.

Salt Whistle Bay, lovely beach. We anchored and were helped to find a good spot by Jordan on “No Limit” – gave him 10 EC for his trouble. It seemed that once you were spoken for by one of the boat boys then everyone else stays clear.

The locals are helpful and not pushy when they greet you. Good holding in sand, there are patches of weed.

The Mayreau Marina man was also there to take your 65 EC PN FEE; or 3 nights for 150

One of our friends had his dinghy and outboard stolen one evening, it was unlocked.

Our other friend took a mooring buoy and on the 2nd day at 9 am when he was preparing to go ashore, the buoy rope broke and he was set adrift. Fortunately, he realised in time. They put him on another buoy.

We had lobster at 90 EC and fish at 65EC on the beach, our friends paid 80 for their lobster, so don’t forget to negotiate.

There were lots of charter boats here on buoys, specifically 50+ catamarans, mostly with skippers. There were not many boats at anchor.

We walked the 10 mins or maybe 20 over to Saline Bay, it was quiet here and only a few boats anchored or on buoys. There were lots of bars and restaurants in Mayreau and they seemed to come alive at about 5 pm.
