Rum Cay : Profile

Location

Located Central Bahamas, East, this Cay has a marina in Port Nelson and an excellent dive site, the wreck of the 101-Gun Man-o-War HMS Conqueror which was built in 1855 and sank in 1861.

Docking

Port Nelson is located at 23°38’N 074°52’W. Out of the channel to the government dock you can drop anchor. The bottom is sand with good holding, but open from South to West.

To get to the marina, follow the shore but be careful of shallows to port. Keep a good lookout as there are some bombies.

There are some moorings in the marina basin that cost half price. Good if you plan to leave your boat for a period of time.

17 slips, max. 7 foot depth, channel depth is 1.5m at low water. Water, power, telephone, fuel, accomodation and restaurant.
