Las Galletas - General Info

Description:
This small fishing port lies on the southern tip of Tenerife. One of the last traditional fishing harbors left in Tenerife, fresh fish can be bought daily.
The town surrounds the harbor with supermarkets, pharmacy, banks, shops, medical care, etc. all within walking distance. It is a charming, laid-back town with attractive narrow streets and a private marina.
The harbor is situated next to the nature reserve of “Punta Rasca”, with its beaches and coves, and stands under the watchful eye of Mount Teide, a truly magnificent panorama.
Position:
28º 00.43’N, 16º 39.73’W (harbour entrance)

We anchored one night in the bay just to the east. Two other boats were at anchor. Sand and rock bottom. Anchor held well in sand, but the chain was noisy across the rocks. Very comfortable in the wind and swell from the east.
We received a friendly welcome. Channel 9 was answered promptly. Telephone first after a few tries. We paid 23 Euros a night for 10.7 meters. Space was available in October although during our first contact we were told differently. The staff were always on site and helpful.
Nice town, but the pontoons are very poorly maintained. Marina staff (when you find them) are always ‘busy’ – and on Friday afternoons and at weekends when the boss has gone home disappear completely!
