 Musket Cove - Shore Services

Communications

Mail is held for Yachts In transit and the correct mailing address is: Musket Cove Yacht Club, Private Mail Bag (NAP 0352), Nadi Airport, Fiji.

Public telephones and phone cards are available for purchase.

Banks

Bank and ATM There is no cash facility at Musket Cove Resort. Yachts may open an account at the Resort. Cash is available in small quantities through the resort reception

Laundry

There are coin operated washing machines and dryers opposite The Trader supermarket.

Provisions

The Trader supermarket, located in the resort is open daily 08:00-19:00. There is a reasonable selection of goods including fresh produce flown in daily. If something is not in stock, it can be ordered from the mainland.

Delivers to Musket Cove.

Transport & Travel

Transport is not required at Musket Cove Resort as everywhere is only a short walk away. The staff use golf buggies around the resort, and so you might be offered a lift!

The Island has a small airport a short walk from the resort and marina, with regular flights to Nadi International Airport.

Bike hire  (Activities Bure)  is close to the Marina Office.

TAXIS: Book a resort chauffeur buggy via reception.

Operates frequent flights through the day, 7 days a week to Nadi.
Flight time is approximately 10 minutes.
The Malolo Cat
Tel:664 0805 / 666 2633
Operates between Port Denarau and Malolo Lailai Island, crossing in 50 minutes.
It is a good way for new crew to join, or to do some shopping in Nadi or Lautoka, or simply go sightseeing on the mainland.
Fares are F$50 one way, F$100 return. The fare includes coach transfer to/from Nadi airport and Nadi Hotels.
Departs Musket Cove at 08:45, 12:15 and 15:30. Departs Denarau at 10:00, 14:00 and 17:00.
Book 24 hours before travel. Can be done at marina reception.

Resort boutique.

Medical/Health

First aid and minor attention is available on the island of Malolo Lailai at Plantation Resort (nurse on duty). Aircraft evacuation is available in emergencies.

  • Hospitals in Nadi and Latoka. - Doctors in Nadi and Namarka.

Pharmacy Trader Shop & Resort Boutique (situated close to the Resort Reception), both have limited stock.

Activities

Beautiful sandy beaches, good snorkeling & scuba + sunny wx make this a great area to enjoy cruising.

Crystal Blue Reef Safari (Manta Ray Resort on Nanuya Balavu Island - Yasawas) Scuba dive center (amenable to cruisers and experienced divers).

West Side Watersports (Nanuya Island Resort on Nanuya Lailai - Yasawas) Scuba dive center.

Fiji Regatta Week - annually every September (4th to 10th September 2009). Run by Musket Cove Yacht Club and Musket Cove Island Resort. Six days of fun racing, parties and events. Contact [email protected] for more information.

Attractions

Sawailau Caves (northern Yasawas) - Fresh water caves. A short underwater swim takes you into the surreal underground cavern system. F$5/pers. Closed on Sunday.

Restaurants & Bars

Mana Island Resort - Mana Island. Use of facilities available to cruisers having meals at this luxurious resort (A la carte & Buffets & island shows).

Musket Cove Marina [see above]. Inexpensive yachtsman bar (3,5 F$/beer or local spirit mixes) in the marina with free BBQ facilities providing one buys his meat from the Trader Store.

Octopus Resort - Waya Island (NW corner). Use of facilities available to cruisers having meals at this luxurious resort (A la carte & Buffets & island shows).

Ratu Kini Backpackers - Mana Island. Inexpensive drinks & meals. Cruisers welcome. Buffets & island shows.

Ratu Nemani Island Bar, a favourite amongst visiting yachtsmen. Great place to watch the sunset whilst having your own BBQ on the many BBQ pits. Order your BBQ packs from the Coffee Cove before 1600. Open 1000 until late.

Dick’s Place Bar & Bistro, main restaurant of the resort. Open from 0730 for breakfast, last orders for dinner are 2130. Snack menu available 0730-1700. Shirt and dry shorts required. Mobile phone free area.

The Coffee Cove Café, situated behind the Trader Shop. Relaxing place tucked away for a light snack, coffee or iced drink from 1000-1830.

Lomani Resort, venture along the coast road past the runway to the next resort as an alternative for an evening out.
