  Puerto Princesa : Profile

Clearance

Immigration is situated near the airport on the second floor of a nondescript house along the main road (right hand side towards the airport – small signpost).

Clearance fees are 500 peso in, and about another 500p out, which includes the first 21 day visa.

Customs is located closer to the center of Puerto Princesa in another anonymous house. The tricycle cabbies mostly know where it is. A visit here will set you back another 500 peso (12$US 2009). The officials are all very helpful.

Docking

Puerta Princesa bay contains the small but very helpful Abanico yacht club. They monitor VHF channel 72 and can be reached on phone no. 09287135397.

The anchorage is good, and the yacht club will point out where to anchor.

The yacht club has a nice bar with a safe dinghy dock. Simple meals are available. You can order water for delivery to the boat (charge not known). The yacht club charges 500 peso a week for membership (12$US 2009). A tricycle trip to town will cost 20+ peso (2009).

To get to the yacht club requires some care and should not be attempted at night. Charts are not generally good. These waypoints will take you from the inlet to the anchorage.

Advisable to give call for guidance into the anchorage, service boat is there until 5pm. Connected to wifi and most of the yachts recieve the service in their own anchorage, or better still at the club to use Skype. Hot simple meals are served, and of course our weekly lunch buffets.
