New Caledonia - Transport

Nov 09, 2025

La Grande Terre, Loyalty Islands and the Isle of Pines all have an excellent network of roads. Major roads are all sealed. Driving is on the right-hand side of the road and rental cars are available. A valid driving license is required to rent a car - the visitor center has a list of companies.

There are taxis but they are often not available when required.

There are ferries connecting the various islands, although the schedules are limited.

The main airport is on Noumea and the local company, Air Caledonia, has three flights per day to the Isle of Pines.
