Jordan - Health
The country’s health care system is advanced and divided between public and private institutions. It is considered to be the number one medical tourism provider in the Arab region. Medical facilities outside Amman are basic. In an emergency you should seek treatment in Amman and Aqaba.
Vaccine-Preventable Diseases:
No vaccines are required for visitors upon entering Jordan.
Food and Water Concerns:
Water is a precious resource in Jordan and visitors are encouraged not to waste it. Hotels rated 3 stars and up have their own water filtering systems and their water is considered safe to drink. Elsewhere, bottled water is inexpensive and readily available.
Cholera is a risk.
Other Diseases:
HIV/AIDS entry restrictions exist for visitors to Jordan. Travellers may not be allowed into the country at ports of entry if they are known to have HIV. This policy, however, is rarely enforced and Jordanian authorities do not screen for HIV/AIDS at the border.
