COVID-19

On February 12, 2020, Noonsite began publishing a list of COVID-19 restrictions being implemented at ports of entry around the world. This list continues and is continually updated as and when new protocols are introduced.

COVID-19: Open/Closed Countries

At the beginning these ranged from mandatory health checks, to lists of banned countries and in some cases quarantine.

As the crisis deepened more severe measures were introduced and ultimately border closures, March 2020 being the month when the majority of countries worldwide shut their doors.

In May a number of countries started to relax lockdown measures and slowly but surely some borders around the world began to re-open to foreign yachts – the majority with strict biosecurity measures in place.

July 1st and 15th were key dates for European countries opening up and July saw more countries opening, in particular in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean. Come August, many countries saw an increase in Covid-19 infections as travel restrictions eased and began tightening up once again.

As Autumn/Fall approached the precited “second wave” started to strike and the world situation continued to change with entry regulations in a constant state of flux; cruising long distances continues to be risky. Pacific cruisers have mainly stayed put in the Islands with only Australia opening up mid-November, too late for many. Atlantic cruisers are underway for the Caribbean, where yet more cruising boats have been stuck over the winter.

To keep abreast of the current worldwide situation review our continually updated COVID-19 Document and follow the links to the indvidual country biosecurity sections where much more detail is covered.

Noonsite’s NEW Map (see blue pin icon on right hand side of Noonsite page)
Launched at the end of May 2020, not only is the new map an easy way to navigate around Noonsite and find out port and country information worldwide, it also shows open ports around the world for both yachts in transit and yachts needing a safe harbor (marked green). Ports of Entry are marked orange. The map is also a great place to post your favorite anchorages.

Please send information of open ports to [email protected]
