  Nazare : Profile

Location

This is a relatively new harbour. The town lies about 50nm south of Figueira da Foz. It is an attractive destination with fine sandy beaches and an interesting old town up on the cliff which is reached by a funicular railway.

Position 39°35.2'N,9°04.4'W.

Clearance

Nazare may not yet have the single form system but there is a GNR-Brigada Fiscal office in the same building as the marina office and normally no other officials need be seen.

Docking

This harbour has all-weather access and very good shelter.

Visitors have a choice of using the marina or yacht club. At the marina (in the SW corner of the harbour), arriving yachts should berth on the outer pontoons where they will be met and directed to a berth.

There is no anchoring in the outer harbour. Berthing facilities are 1.5 miles south of the town.

Port control VHF channel 11 or 16

Private yacht club that welcomes visitors. Very friendly. Limited visitor berthing, but have new (2010) individual 6m finger pontoons (some up to 8.5m wide) with fresh water and electricity, and fuel available 24/7. On arrival at fuel station, press button to get fuel, then go up to adjacent petrol station to pay, whilst someone else on board fills up. Small shower and toilet block. Access keys available from large building in middle of marina displaying "clube navale da nazare" on the top. More expensive than Nazare Marina pontoons, but more sheltered and much better pontoon facilities.
