Docking

If a large sea is running at low tide this entrance can be difficult. The marina is on the north side of the entrance in the middle of the city and is very well-protected. Conditions over the bar at the entrance are broadcast on VHF channel 11. The river entrance has been dredged to about seven metres, but one should aim to cross the bar during a rising tide. The marina is a short distance up the river on the port side; visitors should berth at the the reception pontoon in front of the yellow building.

Note that there is frequently a strong current across the marina entrance, and sometimes there may be nets strung across the river.
