  Ugljan : Profile

Location

This long, narrow island stretches for 11 miles parallel to the coast, opposite Zadar from which it is separated by a 2 mile wide channel.

Docking

There are mainy small ports around this island, but the marinas at Preko and Sutomiscia are the prinicpal ones with facilities.

Preko - Position 44°04.9'N,15°11.6'E.
In the middle of the NE coast, opposite Zadar. This is an attractive town. The marina is just South of the small island of Galovac, by the village.

Berth in the marina where directed or to the outer wall of the harbour just to the north. Note: Beware that the depth between Galovac and the mainland is less than 1m.

Anchor either north or south of the island in 5 - 8m, but both are exposed to the bora.

Sutomiscica - Position 44°05.8'N,15°10.4'E.
This is a large bay about 3NM north of Preko. There are several quays around the bay as well as the marina on its western side.

Berh at the marina where directed or tie up on the southern side of the pier on the opposite shore, by the village.

There is an anchorage just north of the pier in 4m in mud and good holding, although it is rather exposed to the bora unless tucked into the NE corner.
