Docking

This bay is 10 nm SW of Salvador de Bahia.

There is a new, modern marina with floating pontoons as well as a safe, calm anchorage. The current run at up to 2kn, so this must be considered when selecting space for anchoring. Only in fierce northerlies does the swell have any effect here.

Watch out for the reefs on Itaparica's northern side and the busy ferry traffic which travels at some speed. On approaching the anchorage, watch for the quickly shoaling sand bank to port.
