    temptress says:

Mariners should be aware that Havannah Harbour, Efate, Vanuatu is presently (September 2019) off limits for yachts.

The Vanuatu Government has declared a State of Emergency (SOE) on this area and other areas in the north-eastern coast of Efate and part of the coastal area on Lelepa due to the Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB) infestation.

Biosecurity is concerned that the onboard lights of yachts will attract the flying adult beetles and these could then be transported to uninfested areas of the country.

Yacht crews are advised to seek current status of this exclusion area before attempting to enter Havannah Harbour. Vessels may be turned away (as we were) or potentially impounded under the SOE laws.
