General Clearance:
Vilankulos waterfront has no clearance facilities. Clearance procedures for sea arrivals to this area must be arranged with the Vilankulo Airport and Customs/Immigration authorities.
There is a US$80 fee for arrivals after-hours or on weekends.
If not planning to step ashore, there is no requirement to officially clear in, especially if waiting for the weather to clear.
This is the nearest Port of Entry to the Bazaruto and Santa Carolina Islands. Clearance procedures must be carried out here BEFORE continuing to these offshore islands.

The anchorage is difficult to get into as a bar blocks the way at low water (min.1.5m). Enter only at high tide. The deeper water, further away from the beach, is sand with good holding, but generally, this is an open anchorage.
It is quite far from town and the “port” to which you can take the dinghy at all tides. Local boat-boys will approach you.
