Bulgaria Immigration Procedures for Yachts:
Passports must be valid at least three months beyond departure.
Bulgaria and Romania became the newest Member States to join the Schengen area as of 31 March 2024. Any person crossing the internal air and sea borders will no longer be subject to checks.
From March 31st, 2024, in accordance with Article 6 of the Schengen Borders Code, the maximum duration of the authorized stay on the territory of the Schengen States for third-country nationals, regardless of whether they are required to hold a visa or are exempt from such a requirement, may not exceed a total of “90 days in any 180-day period”, irrespective of the type of passport they possess.

European Entry and Exit System (EES)
The first stage of implementing the Europe-wide entry and exit system (EES) was launched on 12 October 2025. This means that all non-EU crew must now have their biometric data recorded on entry and exit to/from the EU. Not all ports of entry will have systems in place to begin with, so handling these new immigration procedures may require some flexibility with your port of entry choice.
