India: New E-Visa Scheme

Published 7 years ago, updated 6 years ago

The new e-visa scheme allows for an easier, quicker and cheaper method of obtaining a visa for India.

There are, however, some limitations.

Currently, such visas are only accepted at 3 ports; Cochin, Goa and Mangalore.

The e-visa is valid for 60 days from the date of arrival and only allows two entries within the visa period.

Also, visitors are limited to two visits in a 12 month period.

Fees range from $50 to $75 depending on the applicant’s nationality.

Another plus is that it will be issued within 60 days and there is even a ‘fast-track’ service which promises to process an application within 12 hours, although this must be initiated 24 hours before the proposed date of entry.
