 Tainan City (Anping) - Profile

Location

Located on the SW coast of the island, Anping is a recently built government marina in the historic city of Tainan. This ancient port still retains some of its old buildings.

The marina is regarded as typhoon-proof and the prices are very reasonable because the government charges are based on the vessel's gross tonnage and not length. This however may change in the future.

Position 22°58' N, 120°09' E.

Clearance

This is not a Port of Entry, however yachts have been reported to arrive here and clearance facilitated given that pre-arrival formalities have been completed.

The Tainan Sailing School, close to the new marina, should be able to help with clearance formalities.

Docking

Outside Anping Harbour there are extensive oyster farms, so approach with caution. If you approach the port at 90 degrees from approx. 2 miles off, you should be able to navigate safe passage through the farms. Obviously, approach at night is not advisable. There are no lights and no markers at all.

The security dock is on your port side as you enter the harbour. The marina is situated at the head of the basin.

There are very limited facilities currently, except public toilets, but there are plans to build further.

ICQ stands for the official clearance procedures (Immigration, Customs and Quarantine) for Taiwan. FYC’s physical location is currently located at ShinDa Harbor (ASA Instructor Neil Lo’s base) but they are working on establishing a port of entry for AnPing Harbor as the local government has recently built a very nice harbor here.
