Ebeye Island (Kwajalein Atoll) : Profile
One should contact officials on Channel 16 for instructions where to come alongside for clearance. If there is no space, one might have to anchor. Most yachts anchor on the east side of the T-pier, between the Mobil tanks and the old dock. Formalities are similar to those in Majuro.
Ebeye has a population of about 14,000 and provides access to some of the world's best wreck diving. Kwajalein lagoon has numerous WW2 and earlier wrecks including the famous Prinz Eugen, the escort ship to Germany's Bismark.
The neighbouring island of Kwajalein is off limits to all but US military personnel and their permitted visitors.
This island population is very poor and, apart from the few who work on the US base, most are unemployed.
