Quepos : Profile
This popular town lies in the centre of Costa Rica's Pacific coast. It is an attractive resort with excellent beaches.
Position 9°25.5′N, 84°9.4′W.
Quepos is now a port of entry. Clearance is available at the Marina Pez Vela but the officials are not based at the port and have to travel from Puntarenas at additional cost.
To enable the marina to arrange clearance the following documents need to be sent in advance:-
Boat registration (5 copies)
Zarpe from previous port (5 copies)
Signed crew list (5 copies)
Signed list of previous 5 ports visited (2 copies)
Copy of 3rd party insurance
Copy of each page in all passports (4 copies)

Advice should be sought if intending to anchor off Quepos as not all areas are secure - see armed robbery report adjacent October 2010.
January 2012: The marina was reported to be very safe with good security, good, clean facilities and helpful staff.

All facilities, pumpout at each berth, 75 and 200 ton travel lifts, all repairs. Immaculately clean and secure. No propane services yet. Small shop and 10 mins walk south from main town.
