South Korea - Customs
Prohibited goods include Sexually inappropriate materials and forged/falsified or counterfeit currency, bonds and other marketable securities.
Goods that must be declared include
- Firearms, swords, explosives, gas sprayers, taser guns, crossbows as well as any drugs including marijuana, opium, cocoa leaves,hemp and its products and medicines that may be misused or abused.
- Goods that have been taken out and brought in again by a traveler or crew member who leaves the country temporarily.
Everything brought into the country must also leave the country.
Valuables should be declared on arrival.
If you enter the country with foreign currency, KRW notes, or cheques above USD 10,000, you must report it to Customs officials. The same applies for Cashier’s Cheques in Korean Won.
Special approval is needed from the Art & Antiques Assessment Office to export antiques and valuable cultural items.
