Historic Lahaina town, a tourism hub and historic whaling village has been burnt to the ground in catastrophic wildfires that have affected the island of Maui, with officials estimating that about 80% of the community has been destroyed. The wildfires ripping through Maui will likely be the largest natural disaster the state of Hawaii has seen, according to the State’s Governor who said the blazes have killed dozens, displaced thousands of others and wiped out communities.
