Puerto Velero outside of Barranquilla

I have now been at this new marina for 3 months and find it nice. It is about 25 minutes from Barranquilla

The area is clean, new and growing. You can swim off your boat and many days can see the bottom. The anchorage is large if you do not want to stay in the marina. There is a new green buoy at the entrance now.

There are two nice (expensive) restaurants and many beach restaurants where a good meal and beer can be had for about $5 or 6 USD, not bad.

The ride to town (Barranquilla) involves a moto $1.60 or $3,000 local, then a bus ride for another $1.60 or $3,000. It lets you out right at a large well-stocked supermarket at the north end of town which is the nicer area of the city.

The marina can do clearance in and out of Colombia – a nice lady Angelica is marina staff and she will do it, she is bilingual and very helpful. This is a new marina so they are not 100% up yet, but they will get you fuel, there are power and water at the dock, there are some fingers and most are Med tie. There are showers and washroom – it is all new so very clean, they will do laundry for you but no self-serve.

There is one restaurant on site a famous Colombian chef so not cheap, but many playa beach restaurants with food cost from $4usd to $30 USD for a meal big range.

They are building a boatyard as we speak and it should be done in 6 months is my guess,

Great marina great people and way cleaner and more affordable than Cartagena or Santa Maria.
