  Anelcauhat : Profile

Location

This friendly island is the most southerly in Vanuatu and as of June 2011 is a port of entry. The more cruisers who stop here, the better the chance the government will be locked in to continuing the arrangement.

It is exactly the same distance from Lautoka as Port Resolution but is a superb anchorage, easy to get into and safe in anything but a westerly blow.

Position approximately 20°11'S, 169°46'E.

Clearance

This is now an offical Port of Entry for yachts.

The customs officer (Colin Keith) comes out to yachts flying a yellow quarantine flag in a dug-out. He will stamp passports, issue a cruising permit, etc. See Vanuatu Clearance for further details.

Last updated June 2011.

Docking

There are several anchoring spots. The one SE of Inyeug is sheltered from N, W and SW winds. Anchoring east of the wharf gives shelter from the south. This island should be avoided in a westerly blow. The anchorages on the north coast of Aneityum are also good. The diving and fishing are good here.
