  Casa de Campo : Profile

Location

This upmarket tourist resort is situated in La Romana, on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic, just over 2nm from Catalina Island.

The marina is located behind a long breakwater that begins on the west shore of the Chavon River and extends to a striped lighthouse marking the starboard entrance to the marina channel. This channel is also clearly marked by red and green buoys. If coming from the east, the marina is not behind Punta Minas, it is east of it.

Position 18 23.47N Lat. 68 54.15W Lon

Clearance

The marina can assist with all clearance arrangements. Once you have the marina in sight, call them on the VHF. They respond to Spanish, English, French and Italian.

No departure or arrival may be before 0600 or after 1800 without special permission obtained from "Comandancia de Puerto" on VHF channel 16.

All officials will come to the berth and fees should total just over US$100 (March 2010). Tips will be requested.

There is no charge for checking out. "Despachos" (clearance to the next port) can be administered the night before departure if requested in time. Departure after 1700 is regarded as an additional night's stay.

Last Updated March 2010.
