Larnaca : Profile
This laid-back town is a mixture of the very old and a modern tourist resort. It lies towards the eastern end of Cyprus' southern coast.
All the authorities are based at the marina.
Yachts must call "Larnaca Marina" on VHF Ch16; the working channel is 8.
Crew must remain on board until clearance is granted. Clearance is completed with the Marine Police, Customs and Immigration and, sometimes, the Health Inspector.
If arriving after 14:00 hrs or at the weekend, you may be charged an overtime fee.
The marina is currently (from October 2011) undergoing some renovation, due to some pontoons collapsing. This will mean that space is further restricted, therefore advance contact with the marina is necessary.
The marina here is to the east of the commercial harbour and generally provides good shelter. The outer harbour is unaffected by the on-going works, but is subject to rough seas with Easterly winds. Hard standing is on the Western side of the outer harbour.
Larnica is a popular over-wintering stop for many yachts therefore advance reservations are recommended.
