Country Name: SVG

Location Detail: Bequia Princess Margaret Beach

EVENT: Robbery

Stolen Items: Small waterproof bag containing a camera and personal items.

DETAILS:

We were returning to our boat after an evening out. I had just stepped onto the dinghy dock when a man suddenly appeared right behind me and grabbed my small waterproof shoulder bag. It was around my neck so he used a machete and cut the strap. He ran away down the beach and into the woods.

No injuries, but reported to Police, Coast Guard, local VHF Net, and Bequia Tourism Office.

In many instances, if reported quickly and a description of the suspect is known, police can monitor individuals boarding the ferry boats on the Admiralty Bay pier, heading off the island from Bequia to Kingstown, on the main island of St Vincent. Individuals have been identified and subsequently apprehended when attempting to leave Bequia on the ferry.
