We are currently anchored in front of the marina at Fronteras on the Rio Dulce, Guatemala.

Our boat was robbed last night prior to 8:30 pm. No one was on board. We figure someone on shore must have been watching us anchor and leave the boat. We had only been there about 3 hours before going ashore.

The thieves stole a lot of things. All our entertainment hardware (including a 32″ flat screen TV), extensive fishing gear, cash and credit/debit cards plus even various snorkelling gear.

We are anchored very close to other sailboats directly in front of the marina. We checked with the boats anchored close and no one saw anything. It was a moonless night. We suspect the thieves are using someone ashore with binoculars and a cell phone to watch when crew leave their boat and when they start to return. It seems very organized.

A report was filed with the local police. I heard that it was the fourth robbery in the last two weeks. One sailor was on shore for less than an hour and still he got burgled. We keep finding missing items. Halyards and sheets were also cut off at the winches.
