SV Soulmatie was boarded in broad daylight while the owners were ashore, between 1:45 pm and 4:30 pm on Sunday, Oct 6th. SV Soulmatie has spent the past 2.5 months anchored in Prickly Bay, Grenada, leaving for short excursions but always returning to the same spot.

Boats anchored nearby did not see or hear anything.

The owners had left the vessel secure; all hatches, ports, and companionway entries were locked. They had told no one where they were going or for how long they would be gone.

The perpetrator(s) forced open the forward companionway. The teak trim was chiselled and damaged to obtain access to the metal locking bar. The metal was bent until the secured door opened freely.

The crew returned to SY Soulmatie around 4:30 pm when they discovered the crime.

Cash and the majority of loose electronics had been stolen.

Cruisers are advised to be vigilant 24/7, even in what is considered the safest harbours.
