ONGOING INVESTIGATION——–

While owners took shore accommodations for a night, in the early hours of the morning in May 2013 a Plastimo 6 man liferaft was stolen from their 45 ft yacht.

The crew’s movements to and from the yacht were quite obvious. The yacht was on her mooring near the midway point north N/E part of Tyrell Bay, Carriacou Island, Grenada, WI. The crew left the yacht at 1815 on Saturday and when they returned Sunday morning, they discovered the liferaft had gone.

The yacht had been boarded and the liferaft was removed from an extremely well-designed carrier on the deck of the yacht. Attempts to break into the locked yacht proved damage but had failed.

The yacht was not lit.  There were 3 other yachts in the vicinity, all well lit, however, with it being a Saturday night all three crew went ashore and didn’t return to their yachts until around 2330.

Since the investigation remains ongoing and reliable tips regarding the occurrence are being followed it is preferable that the name of the yacht and it’s owners remain confidential at this time for the purpose of their safety.
