Report Intro

Robbery onboard a yacht in Wayasewa Island.

Our Catana 42 Catamaran was anchored in Wayasewa island west, at position S17°19.803 E177°07.834. This is between the two villages, approx. 100m from the beach. There were 2 other boats in the anchorage with us.

All boat crews went ashore between 7 and 8 pm to have dinner with the Chief of the village. We left our anchor light on and locked the boat.

While we were having dinner, our boat was robbed – they took an iPad, 2 phones, a dive lamp . . . Whilst our boat was locked, with a little shaking the door does open. All items were on the chart table.

They came from shore swimming (two people: one big, one small, according to the footprints in the sand we saw) and took our trash can to put the items in, in order to go back onshore.

We reported the theft to the Chief and the people of the village seemed really concerned, but didn’t manage to get the items back (which is stupid because every item was code protected and is now worth nothing).

Probably kids but still a 1000€ gone. Sad.
