Subject: Catamaran boarded in Roseau, Dominica – 21 January 2010

Message:

To advise readers that we spent two nights on a mooring off the Anchorage Hotel in Roseau. The mooring was owned by Pancho Services.

Day One. We cleared in at the Commercial Dock as the usual Customs and Immigration were being refurbished and spent the remainder of the day ashore in Roseau. Supper was had on board and an uneventful night followed.

Day Two. Went on an island tour for the majority of the day and returned for supper on board. At approximately 04:30, a kick was heard on the hull next to our cabin shortly followed by the noise of someone hauling themselves onto our sugar-scoop out of the water.

Captain was soon in the cockpit shouting at the young local guy (only the one seen) who quickly jumped back into the water and swam off in the darkness.

The burglar didn’t get the opportunity to steal anything from us and would’ve had trouble gaining entry due to locked hatches and doors. However, we feel others should be aware of our experience – particularly if they’re not such light-sleepers.
