Belgium - Documents
- Yachts must carry their original registration document, insurance policy and ship’s radio licence.
- One member of the crew must have a radio operator’s certificate of competence.
- For EU boats, proof of VAT status is also required.
- A copy of International ColRegs must also be carried and the current tide tables for the area.
- Since 1 January 2022 an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is required for yachts coastal sailing that are over 15m in length or capable of more than 20km/h (approx. 11 knots), otherwise there is no specific requirement for evidence of competence other than that stipulated by the vessel’s flag state.
- On inland waterways an ICC is required if a boat is over 15 meters or capable of more than 11 knots.
- A permit known as a vignette is required for many of the waterways in the Flemish region (notable exceptions to this are Grensleie, Lower Sea Scheldt and Communical Meuse). Vessels of less than 6m in length which are not capable of high speeds are however exempt.
- In the Walloon region a Permis de Circulation may be required.
