The Norwegian Pilot Guide consists of sailing directions for the Norwegian coast, Svalbard and Jan Mayen, and is a supplement to the nautical charts.

The Norwegian Pilot Guide is to be revised and more customized for the professional user, however until the revised editions are published, the current pdf versions of the Norwegian Pilot Guide will be available for FREE download.

The publication contains supplemental information beyond what is displayed on the charts, serves as reference material and is an important tool for use before, during and after sailing.

The Norwegian Pilot Guide series, Den Norske loss, is produced and maintained by the Norwegian Hydrographic Service and comprises eight books.  Volume one provides general information of significance for mariners, while volume two (a and b) through seven describe separate parts of the Norwegian coast. Only Volume 7, which covers Svalbard and Jan Mayen, is available in English.
