We spent just over a month in Premiá De Mar in August / September 2019, as two of our crew had to return to the UK temporarily for business, leaving the other two aboard with our dog.

The marina itself is relatively small, but still has plenty of empty berths, meaning that rates are still quite low, and a quirk of pricing means that staying a month was cheaper than staying two weeks, which was quite handy given our extended stay.

Being on the smaller side, the marina is quiet and peaceful at night, without the large noisy bars of some of the bigger marinas. Security is very good, the staff are very friendly, helpful, and English speaking, and the shoreside facilities are good, modern, clean, and include washing machines.

The shopping area, which is part of the marina development, is mostly still empty and gives the place a slightly ghost town feel, but it’s clearly improving with a three more big units in the process of being fitted out during our stay. Among other shops, there’s an Aldi supermarket, together with a large organic food store, a couple of bars, a restaurant and an ice cream bar. Not to forget the Burger King, which proved popular with two teenagers aboard, or the UnoShop, which is a sort of ‘everything useful’ shop.

There are two decent beaches immediately adjacent to the marina.

Behind the shopping area, there’s a large grass and sand recreation area handy for us for walking the dog, with a kids playground, zip-wire, and a skateboard park.

The railway runs all along the coast here; the station is 12-15 minutes walk from the boat, and it’s only 30 minutes into the centre of Barcelona, and a 10 journey ticket costs just €22.

Overall we enjoyed our time there.

On the negative side, fuel is not available in the marina – the fuel pontoon is ‘under construction’, although there was no sign of any work being undertaken during our stay, and it didn’t look like anything would be starting soon. But fuel is available from El Masnou, 5 miles to the SW, or Mataro, 4.5 miles NE.

The adjoining yard, V de Bravado is separate from the marina, and seems quite expensive. We had an engine service and alternator replaced, and even after some negotiation it was still at the top end of the normal range.
