Bayahibe

27 August, 2020

It is difficult to describe Bayahibe. A pleasant previous fishing village is also a major tourist venue. There is a beach hotel close to the north and an unspoilt town south and east of the harbour. The harbour gets busy every day with a large numbers of tourists who embark onto enormous sailing catamarans to visit Isla Saona, to the south. They return late afternoon.

Anchorage: Sheltered in prevailing wind. Good holding. Quiet except when tourist boats are coming and going.

Ashore: Good bar by the harbour. Several restaurants. Good general grocery store (cheap rum!)

Clearance: Armada station is to the north of the harbour. You walk along the beach until you come to the first building, identified by a flag, before the hotel. Clearance took a long time but was very simple.
