Clearance

Officials will visit the yacht for clearance formalities. Contact them on VHF CH 16.

Proceed to the Customs dock, identified by being close to three large round storage tanks. Take care when mooring to avoid the rusty iron brackets protruding from the quay wall. Behind the pile of rubble from a demolished building there is a dilapidated yellow building with the Romanian flag flying. This is the Port Authority building.

Docking

Berths are available for yachts in the inner harbour where you are likely to be met by a friendly Harbour Master. Berthing is free, but there are no facilities (not even water) here. Berthing bows/stern-to is probably the safer option in protecting the boat's topsides and preventing stray animals of any type coming aboard.
