Clearance

This atoll in the Phoenix Islands is a former US satellite tracking station. Only a handful of people live there and only three supply ships call a year. If one arrives with a Kiribati visa and emergency repairs have to be done, one probably can get permission to stay. The officials will request this by radio from Tarawa. The dredged ship pass should be entered near slack water and one can anchor inside the dredged turning basin. The natural pass is not recommended. The village is three miles away; officials will visit the yacht.
