Halifax : Profile
Customs tel. 426-2071 0800-2200.
There are five major yacht clubs in town and visitors can moor at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in the main harbour. The Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron is particularly welcoming to visiting yachts and has good facilities.
The Maritime Museum no longer offer free dockage. Most of the waterfront is managed now and while there are many more floating docks and seawalls to use, there is a charge of up to $1.00 per foot. This needs to be worked out with
the attendant at the Maritime Museum (if you dock there) or a representative of the Waterfront development corporation.
For those looking for a more sheltered location, one might consider going
further into the Northwest Arm and either picking up a mooring or finding dockage at the Armdale YC, the Shearwater YC or anchoring out. This end of the Northwest Arm is much closer to town than the RNSYS and there are several large grocery stores within walking distance, as well as a bus service into town.
