Clearance

Yachts must clear through Mina Sulman, which is the main port and is reached through a 1 mile (1.5 km) long dredged channel between Sitra and Muharraq islands.

Port Control maintains permanent watch on Channel 16 and should be contacted when 3 miles offshore. Pilotage is compulsory but may be waived for small craft in daytime.

Immigration

Most nationals will be granted a visa on arrival or can apply for a eVisa for a stay of 14 days.

For some nationals, the visa application requires a local sponsor, which can be a hotel one is booked into, and a "No Objection Certificate" from the Bahrain Immigration Office.

Fines are strictly imposed on visitors overstaying their visas and forced deportation may occur.

Visas are available at all Bahrain Embassies and Consulates. Extensions are available from Department of Immigration, Manama.

There is now an online eVisa application site which can issue an eVisa, which is typically valid for one month. Your eligibility for a visa, validity duration, and the conditions applicable can also be checked on this site.

The complete list of nationalities that can receive a visa online or on arrival can be found here.

Those with Israeli passports or passports containing an Israeli stamp will be denied entry.
