The three passes of Makemo are exquisite to snorkel on incoming tides. Go way out in front right at slack and hang out on the edge of the drop and see who comes to visit. Drift all the way in the pass with the incoming tides. We sometimes did two drifts before the current got too strong. Out front you will see a lot of sharks, tuna and occasional marlin(friends saw one). The drift in will be dominated by more sharks, wrasses groupers and every other fish you can imagine. Take the time to do all three and see which you prefer.
