Banking hours: Mon-Thurs 0930-1300, Fri 0830-1200.

Money

The Tuvaluan dollar is exchanged 1:1 with the Australian Dollar.

Australian dollar (Aus$) with Tuvaluan coins.

Australian dollars are accepted almost everywhere.

MasterCard may be used at the National Bank of Tuvalu for cash advances. Credit cards are not accepted elsewhere.

There is no ATM.

Communications

International Dialing Code for Tuvalu is +688.

Telephone: There are no area codes. International phone calls can be made from most of the islands.

There is one local mobile network. Other international networks will not work while in Tuvalu. Local SIM cards can be purchased in Funafuti..

Internet: Connections are generally slow and unreliable..

Post: Airmail services to Europe take between five and 10 days to arrive, but can be erratic. Tuvalu stamps are among the most sought after in the world.

Transport

There is an airport at Funafuti which has a twice weekly flights to Fiji.
