Pavilosta : Profile
Once a busy fishing and commercial port, now a sleepy holiday town, which, with help from the EU is building a marina. It is approximately 30NM south of Ventspils, at the mouth of the Saka River.
Berthing is possible either side of the river. The old quay is on the town side (N bank) and the new ‘marina’, which at present consists of one long pontoon, on the other. It is very exposed to on-shore winds and even when the proposed wave-screen is in place, is likely to prove a lively berth in such conditions.
There is room for about 20 yachts. The maximum draft is 1.5m.
