Noonsite member Scott Bonder reported to Noonsite that on the evening of 6 November, 2022, on returning to the dinghy dock in Cruz Bay, St John (USVIs), he discovered his RIB had been slashed.

“We returned from dinner to find our RIB slashed. One other RIB was also slashed at the same dock. The engine was locked to the dinghy and the dinghy was locked, so nothing stolen,” he told Noonsite.

“We then had to pay $200 to find a random local with a boat to get us back to our catamaran on a mooring, and he also towed the (slashed) dinghy.

“We reported the incident to a police officer who shrugged and said we could go to the station to make a report.  He could not care less and did not seem surprised this happened.

“While waiting for the boat to take us back we spoke to another person who pulled into the dinghy dock -he said his dinghy was slashed six months before.”

Scott also reported the incident to the Carribean Safety and Security Net.
